Achieving view amid urban density through an unconventional programmatic arrangement.
Designed for a fellow designer, 1027 achieves efficient living through unconventional arrangement. Outside-the-box thinking allows common spaces receive access to sweeping views via their top-level location, and the full program to fit tidily … inside-the-box.
Due to its dense urban setting, views are at a premium. While conventional wisdom says to place public spaces on the ground floor (providing easier access for guests), and bedrooms above, 1027 swaps these spaces, instead allowing the bedrooms to act as a stepstool for the public spaces to access those hard-to-come-by views. After all, why should the private spaces have such great views to sleep by?
